IDENTITY AMIDST CHAOS
Fragmentation of neural reality in a digital dream
Each week this year has felt like a year unto itself, the pace at which our future is unfolding is unrelenting, exhausting and yet somehow predictable and familiar.
It feels like this was something we have all been waiting for, if our culture and fiction have been any predictor. Similar to a global pandemic for which stories of viruses, zombies and apocalypse via disease have been so common they have become tiresome.
A collapse into a dystopian, corporate state crushing the working class into a fine paste has also been on the horizon in fiction for decades.
With the landscape of social media changing with the sociopolitical and global norms, where are we to turn now that alliances are shifting? What were once safe havens of thought and community, no longer feel welcoming in the same ways. New landmarks are rising up and the population is migrating.
Where to go to find comfort in others, a means of sharing, or a way to reach out?
Exploring a new realm, watching others arrive, meeting the current residents and discovering the culture. Old becomes new, as the past fades away, left behind as leaves fall and the seasons change. We don’t think about how we are only going to continue the cycle again in time. It can be comforting to think of the spaces between and how a void of nothingness is our true reality - our insignificance outweighs any pretentious ideals we hold. Yet, truth is in freedom and freedom in truth. My beliefs create my reality, my reality forges my beliefs. We are on a merry-go-round called Earth with a lifetime ticket and no way to get off. What better way to rebel against the darkness than to shine the brightest light possible, spark as many other lights as possible and watch the irrepressible dark dissolve in an impossible light…
My heart is volatile, My blood is flammable. One more sacrifice; My own darkness. ~ Holding my breath, Can’t let the light Escape quite yet. Everything is alright. ~ Forgotten memories; Remembered, Shared dreams; Tended. ~ A spark in my soul, Ignites my blood flow; Once again a fire alights, My darkness becomes the night. ~
